Ingredients

  • French bread

  • Unsalted butter (room temperature)

  • Garlic (about ½ garlic, minced)

  • Parsley

  • Traditional pizza sauce

  • Provolone cheese

  • Mozzarella cheese

  • Pepperoni

  • Fresh basil

  • Parmesan cheese

  • Red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

  • Slice the bread
Start by cutting the French bread straight down the middle lengthwise to create two even halves. This will form the base for the pizza and allow the toppings to spread evenly.
  • Prepare the garlic butter
In a bowl, combine room-temperature unsalted butter with about half a minced garlic and parsley. Mix until smooth and well blended, making sure the butter is soft enough to spread easily.
  • Spread the garlic butter
Evenly spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the bread. Cover the surface well so every bite has flavor.
  • Add the pizza sauce
Spoon traditional pizza sauce over the garlic butter layer. Spread it evenly, making sure the bread is nicely coated and saucy.
  • Layer the cheeses
Sprinkle provolone cheese over the sauce, followed by mozzarella cheese. Add as much cheese as desired for a rich, melty topping.
  • Add toppings
Arrange pepperoni evenly across the cheese. Sprinkle fresh basil over the top for added flavor and freshness.
  • Transfer to baking dish
Carefully lift the prepared bread and place it onto a baking dish, keeping the toppings intact.
  • Bake the pizza
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 10 to 15 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and the edges are slightly crispy.
  • Finish and serve
Once baked, sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the top. If desired, add red pepper flakes for a little heat. Slice the French bread pizza into pieces and garnish with fresh parsley and extra cheese before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, make sure the butter is fully softened before mixing so it spreads easily and evenly across the bread.
